NRA Launches Mindfulness App To Help Members Notice Target Is Just Mailbox
The guided breathing program encourages users to pause before escalating with a recycling bin.
The NRA has launched a mindfulness app designed to help members pause, breathe, and notice that the suspicious shape downrange is, in fact, just a mailbox.
The app, called Still Sights, guides users through short exercises such as “Name Five Things That Are Not A Threat,” “The Rustling Bag Is Not Your Enemy,” and “Your Neighbor’s Decorative Goose Has Rights Under Local Ordinance.”
“Responsible ownership begins with awareness,” said program director Hank Ralston. “Sometimes awareness means recognizing that a recycling bin has never once challenged your liberty.”
Premium subscribers can access advanced modules, including a 10-minute body scan that asks members to locate tension in the shoulder, jaw, and Facebook comment thread where they called a weather balloon federal.
The organization said early results are promising, with beta users reporting fewer arguments with lawn equipment and a 23 percent increase in letting porch shadows mind their own business.
