Viewer Advisory: Netflix Asks If You Are Sad Enough Before Starting Another Dead-Woman Documentary
The streamer said the prompt helps viewers distinguish genuine interest from the dead-eyed need to make laundry feel dangerous.
Netflix has added a wellness prompt asking viewers whether they are sad enough before starting another documentary about a dead woman.
The prompt appears before selected true-crime titles and asks subscribers to confirm they are choosing the program for narrative reasons, not because they want folding laundry to feel like evidence.
"We want members to engage with difficult stories intentionally," said unscripted content director Mallory Keene. "If someone is on their sixth murdered-wife limited series in one night, the platform should at least ask whether they have eaten."
Viewers can choose Yes, I Am Ready, Not Yet, or Please Recommend A British Baking Show Before I Become Someone Who Talks About Timelines.
Netflix said the feature will not reduce the number of true-crime releases, because concern is one thing and inventory is another.
