DoorDash Lets Customers Tip Driver With Apology They Still Owe Someone From Childhood
The company says the feature turns unresolved guilt into a convenient delivery add-on.
DoorDash has introduced a new option allowing customers to tip drivers with an apology they still owe someone from childhood, converting long-held guilt into a delivery add-on.
At checkout, users can select a standard cash tip or choose from unresolved apology templates such as "I blamed you for the glue," "I knew the bike was yours," and "I laughed because everyone else laughed."
"People want more flexible ways to reward Dashers," said customer payments lead Brielle Novak. "Sometimes that reward is \$6. Sometimes it is a sentence the customer has carried since fourth grade and is now handing to a stranger with pad Thai."
Drivers can accept the apology, decline it, or forward it to the person it probably belongs to for an additional fee.
DoorDash said early users appreciate the feature, though many report feeling worse after realizing the driver now knows the nuggets were not the problem.
