The new search option ranks diners, steakhouses, and soup places by how much silence they can hold.
Yelp has added a filter for restaurants that can fix whatever Dad did, helping users locate nearby booths, soup specials, and neutral lighting capable of absorbing decades of table silence.
The filter ranks restaurants by apology acoustics, bread basket timing, and whether the server knows to refill water without asking how everyone is doing.
"People are no longer just searching for sushi or patios," said Yelp family occasions lead Marisol Kent. "They are searching for a room where an older man can stare at the menu for nine minutes and maybe say he was hard on you because his dad was hard on him."
Highly rated options include diners with laminated menus, steakhouses with dim corners, and Italian restaurants where nobody judges a grown adult for ordering plain pasta during a reckoning.
Yelp warned that no restaurant can fix everything, though a booth near the kitchen may help if Dad starts talking about money in the third person.
