Employee Care: Amazon Adds Prayer Room Where Warehouse Workers Can Ask God For More Uptime

The company said the room reflects its commitment to meeting employees wherever they are, provided they stay within scanning distance of an assigned tote.

Amazon has added a prayer room at select warehouses where workers can ask God for more uptime, stronger calves, and a scanner that stops making that noise.

The room fits two employees, one folding chair, and a laminated reminder that all prayers should remain under four minutes unless approved by a floor lead.

"We support the whole person," said fulfillment wellness director Brandt Corelli. "If an associate needs to speak with the Lord about tendon pain, heat stress, or the location of bin J-48, we want that conversation to happen in a designated space."

Workers said the room is peaceful, though the serenity is somewhat undercut by the wall clock, the productivity chart, and the sense that God may also be wearing a vest.

Amazon said it may expand the program if early data shows prayer can be batched.
