Bumble Adds Filter For Men Who Call Therapy Gay But Keep Bringing Up Dad

The app says the setting helps users identify men who reject healing while narrating their childhood over appetizers.

Bumble has added a new filter allowing users to identify men who call therapy gay but keep bringing up Dad before the appetizers arrive.

The setting flags profiles containing phrases such as “I just handle things myself,” “my old man was tough on me and I respect that,” and “I am not angry, I just think every waiter is testing me.”

“Dating app users asked for clearer damage disclosures,” said product strategist Lena Park. “A man can reject therapy if he wants, but the app should warn matches when his third photo is a truck and his first question is whether your dad hugged you.”

Bumble said the filter does not ban affected users. It simply places a small wrench icon beside their profile to indicate that a woman may spend the first drink listening to a 32-year-old explain why crying is for quarterbacks after playoff losses.

Early testers praised the feature, especially the premium option that converts “I do not need therapy” into “I will bring this up during mini golf.”
