Cowboy Reviews: ‘Moon Healer’ by Job For a Cowboy

Alrighty, y’all, Dusty here, and I reckon it’s about time I shared my two cents on this here “Moon Healer” album by Job For A Cowboy. Now, I ain’t no city slicker music critic, but I’ve ridden under many a moon to know a thing or two about tunes that get your spurs jinglin’.

  1. Beyond the Chemical Doorway: Kickin’ things off with a title that sounds like my last attempt at moonshine. This track’s louder than a thunderclap on a clear night. Made my feet tap, sure, but where’s the twang of a banjo? Feels like a hoedown without the down.
  2. Etched In Oblivion: This one’s moodier than a bull with a toothache. It’s got depth, I’ll give ’em that, but I was hopin’ for some singin’ that’s cleaner than a fresh pair of overalls. Instead, got growlin’ that’d scare off coyotes.
  3. Grinding Wheels Of Ophanim: Sounds like what happens when you put a rattlesnake in a coffee grinder. It’s all fire and brimstone, but I’d trade a bit of that fire for a harmonica solo, easy.
  4. The Sun Gave Me Ashes So I Sought Out The Moon: Now, here’s a title that’s more poetic than my Aunt Sally’s love letters. The track’s got a darkness to it, but amidst all that gloom, I was hopin’ for a glimmer of a clean vocal, somethin’ to sing along to by the campfire.
  5. Into the Crystalline Crypts: Felt like wanderin’ into a cave without a torch. It’s intriguing, sure, but a little banjo lightin’ the way wouldn’t hurt. Makes you miss the simple things, like daylight.
  6. A Sorrow-Filled Moon: Finally, a track that speaks to the cowboy soul. But just as I was gettin’ ready to tip my hat, I realized the sorrow was ’cause there wasn’t a single yodel or clear chorus in sight.
  7. The Agony Seeping Storm: This one’s as chaotic as a twister tearin’ through a chicken coop. It’s all the rage, but sometimes, a cowboy just wants a simple melody to hum to his horse. Is that too much to ask?
  8. The Forever Rot: As the finale, it’s like reachin’ the end of the trail only to find there’s no saloon to quench your thirst. It’s a wild ride, but after all that, I was hopin’ for a little sing-song to ease the journey’s end.

So, there you have it. “Moon Healer” by Job For A Cowboy is a ride through uncharted territories, with enough heaviness to spook a herd of cattle. But this cowboy’s left yearnin’ for a bit of banjo pickin’ and some clear singin’ to balance out the howlin’ at the moon. It’s like findin’ a watering hole that’s all mirage and no water. Sure, my feet tapped, but my heart was pining for a melody as clear as a high desert sky. Till next time, keep your boots tight, your coffee strong, and your music twangy.
