Taylor Swift has finally admitted what many of her fans have long suspected: that her music is actually about her criminal activities.
“I can finally say it,” the “You Belong With Me” singer said in a recent interview. “I’m not just writing songs about my relationships, or my breakups. I’m actually writing songs about my life of crime.”
Swift went on to explain that her hit single “Bad Blood” is really about the time she and her gang of criminal accomplices robbed a jewellery store in Paris. “I still remember the adrenaline rush as we ran out of the store, with the jewels in our pockets,” she recalled.
Swift also revealed that the music video for her song “Shake It Off” was a tribute to her time spent in the slammer. “It was the only time in my life I got to shake off the shackles of the law,” she said.
The star also admitted that her latest single, “Look What You Made Me Do,” is about her escape from a maximum security prison. “It was the ultimate act of defiance,” she said.
Swift concluded her interview by saying that her music will always reflect her life and that she hopes her fans take away a lesson from it. “Don’t just do what society tells you to do,” she said. “Follow your own path, no matter how dangerous it may seem.”
It might be a bit of a shock to hear that Taylor Swift’s music is about her life of crime. But it’s also a good reminder that no matter how famous someone is, they still have to take responsibility for their actions.
