Washington, D.C. – In yet another embarrassing blunder for the Biden Administration, a box of classified documents from the President’s tenure as Vice President was discovered at a local Jimmy John’s sandwich shop.
Sources close to the situation report that the documents, which include sensitive information on national security and foreign relations, were found by an unsuspecting employee behind the counter while cleaning up after the lunch rush.
“I can’t believe it,” said Jimmy John’s manager, Tom Johnson. “I thought it was just a bunch of old sandwich wrappers, but when I opened the box, there were all these papers with ‘CLASSIFIED’ stamped all over them. I had no idea what to do, so I just called the FBI.“
The FBI, who immediately secured the scene and took possession of the documents, has not yet released a statement on the matter. However, sources within the Bureau have confirmed that the documents do indeed contain classified information and are currently undergoing further investigation.
The White House, meanwhile, has been quick to downplay the incident, with Press Secretary Jen Psaki stating, “The President is aware of the situation and is fully cooperating with the investigation. We have no reason to believe that any national security secrets have been compromised.”
But experts are not so sure, with one former intelligence official stating, “This is a serious breach of security. The fact that these documents ended up at a sandwich shop of all places is just mind-boggling. It’s a complete embarrassment for the Administration.”
The incident has also been met with ridicule and sarcasm on social media, with one user tweeting, “I never knew Jimmy John’s was a top-secret clearance facility.”
This is not the first time President Biden has found himself in hot water over classified documents. In 2019, while still Vice President, he was criticized for leaving classified information on his personal email account.
The White House has yet to comment on whether the President will be facing disciplinary action over the most recent incident. But one thing is for sure, the sandwich chain is likely to be facing more than just a few bad Yelp reviews in the coming days.
