It’s been a few years since the tragic death of Harambe the gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo, and the nation has finally realized that it’s been far too long since they’ve been outrageously angry about something.
“I was scrolling through my Facebook feed, and I realized I haven’t been truly furious in a while,” said resident Karen Smith. “I decided it was time to dust off my ‘Justice for Harambe’ memes and get mad again.”
And she’s not alone. Across the country, people dig through old memes, post pictures of Harambe on their Instagram stories, and even create new memes to reignite their anger.
“I think it’s important to remember Harambe and keep his legacy alive,” said another resident, Tim Johnson. “And what better way to do that than by being incredibly angry about it?“
The Cincinnati Zoo, however, is less than thrilled about the renewed interest in Harambe’s death. “We understand that people have strong feelings about Harambe, but it’s important to remember that this was a tragic accident and we have moved on,” said a spokesperson for the zoo.
But the nation is not interested in moving on. They’re ready to get mad again and keep the memory of Harambe alive through their anger and memes.
“I’m just glad I finally found something to be angry about again,” said Smith. “I was starting to feel like a normal, well-adjusted person and that’s just not me.“
