Man Who Fears Transgender People in Women’s Bathrooms, Clearly Has Never Heard of Unisex Bathrooms

Greenville, SC – A local man is causing controversy after speaking out against a new policy that allows transgender people to use the bathroom that matches their gender identity.

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, argued that allowing transgender people into women’s bathrooms would be dangerous and could lead to sexual assault. “I don’t feel comfortable with strange men going into the same bathroom as my wife or daughter,” he said.

However, many point out that the man seems oblivious that many public places now have unisex bathrooms, which anyone can use regardless of gender.

Twitter user @notsosureaboutthat tweeted, “This guy has clearly never heard of unisex bathrooms. They’re everywhere now! It’s not that hard to understand.

Others have pointed out that the man’s fear is unfounded, as transgender people are far more likely to be the victims of violence than the perpetrators. A 2018 study found that transgender people are ten times more likely to be victims of violence in bathrooms than cisgender people.

Despite the backlash, the man believes that allowing transgender people into women’s bathrooms is a bad idea. “I’m not a bigot, I’m just trying to protect my family,” he said.

The debate over transgender bathroom rights is likely to continue for some time. Still, one thing is clear: those afraid of transgender people in bathrooms may need to get with the times and realize that unisex bathrooms are the solution to this non-issue.
