In a desperate bid to appeal to the metal crowd, KFC has announced a major rebrand of their iconic mascot, Colonel Sanders. The fast food giant has revealed that the new and improved Colonel will now be known as Colonel Shredder, complete with a leather jacket, aviator sunglasses, and a guitar made out of fried chicken drumsticks.
According to KFC’s chief marketing officer, the rebrand is a “bold move” that will help the company tap into the lucrative market of metal fans who are “looking for something more than just bland, greasy food.”
“We know that metal fans are always on the hunt for the next big thing, and we believe that Colonel Shredder is the answer,” said the CMO. “He’s got the attitude, the style, and, most importantly, the guitar made out of fried chicken drumsticks that will make him the envy of every metalhead out there.“
The new Colonel Shredder will be featured in a series of advertisements, including one where he shreds on his guitar made out of fried chicken drumsticks while riding a motorcycle made entirely out of crispy chicken strips.
KFC’s rebrand has received mixed reactions from the metal community. Some have praised the company for finally recognizing the power of metal, while others have criticized the move as a “gimmicky cash grab” and “an insult to the true spirit of metal.”
