Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao declared that all user funds were safe and secure following reports that he had booked a one-way flight to a country with no extradition treaty. The news has sent investors into a frenzy and left many scratching their heads in confusion.
“I can assure all of our users that their funds are totally safu,” said Zhao with an oddly confident smile. “I’m just taking a little vacation, that’s all. I’m sure everyone can understand that.”
When pressed further, Zhao clarified that he had indeed booked a one-way flight to a country with no extradition treaty, but this was purely coincidental.
“Look, I’m just a normal guy who likes to travel,” he said. “I was looking for a nice, quiet place to relax and take a break from the stress of running a multi-billion dollar company. I just happened to pick a country without an extradition treaty. It’s really not that big of a deal.“
When asked what he would do if he were ever charged with a crime, Zhao shrugged and said, “I guess I’ll take my chances.”
Although Zhao’s announcement has been met with some skepticism, many investors remain confident that their funds are secure.
“I’m not worried about my money,” said one investor. “If anyone can keep funds safe, it’s Changpeng Zhao.”
Only time will tell if Zhao’s decision to flee to a country with no extradition treaty was legitimate. Until then, investors will have to take comfort that their funds are, as Zhao promised, safu.
