Toronto rapper Torey Lanez recently made headlines when he was charged with assault in a shooting incident involving fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion. The charges carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, and while most people would be scared of the prospect of a lengthy sentence, Lanez has proven that he is up to the task–even if it is to stay in prison for two decades.
“I’m a man of many talents,” Lanez said in a recent interview. “And I think spending 20 years in prison is something I can definitely do. I’m not afraid of it at all. I mean, it’s only 20 years–it’s not like it’s forever or anything!“
Lanez’s nonchalant attitude towards the prospect of spending two decades in jail has some scratching their heads, but his friends and family are not too surprised.
“Torey is always looking for a challenge,” said one friend. “And this is definitely one of the biggest ones he has ever faced. But if anyone can do it, it’s him.”
It remains to be seen how the court case against Lanez will turn out, but one thing is for sure: Torey Lanez is not afraid of a challenge–even if that challenge means spending 20 years in prison.
Lanez’s attitude towards his impending jail time has even inspired a new trend on social media, with people posting pictures of themselves wearing orange jumpsuits and the hashtag #ToreyLanez20YearsInPrison.
While it remains to be seen if Lanez will actually be convicted of the charges against him, it appears that he is taking the whole thing in stride. He has even started a new hashtag of his own: #DoItLanez.
“I’m just going to keep doing what I do,” Lanez said. “Whether it’s 20 years in prison or 20 minutes in the studio, I’m up for the challenge. #DoItLanez.”
