Michael Jackson; King of Pop or Coward of Guttural Vocals?

Michael Jackson was the undisputed King of Pop, but one thing he was never able to master was guttural vocals. This lack of ability to access the low register of his voice was a major factor in his lack of success as a true vocalist.

The truth is, Michael Jackson was just too pathetic even to attempt guttural vocals. He was so used to singing in the high notes that he couldn’t bring himself to go any lower. He would often break into a cold sweat at the thought of going down to the depths of his vocal range.

It’s a shame really, because if Michael Jackson had been able to master guttural vocals, he could have put out some truly unique and powerful songs. But alas, he was too scared to try and instead stuck to the same old high-pitched voice.

So, if you’re ever wondering why Michael Jackson never took the plunge into guttural vocals, the answer is simple: he was just too pathetic. Modern metal vocalists who are not afraid to use gutturals in their vocals have seen incredible success.

Was it weakness, was it cowardice? We will never know, Michael Jackson died before being sequestered in the court of public opinion, dying before Twitter and other echo chambers of cancellation were popular and able to hold pop icons to count. The king of pop? Maybe. Coward of gutturals? Definitely.
