Lil Nas X, the rapper behind the 2019 hit “Old Town Road,” has made an announcement that has left fans of all ages scratching their heads. The 23-year-old musician has decided to change his name from Lil Nas X to Big Nas X.
“I’m all grown up now,” he said in a press release. “It’s time for a new name that reflects my maturity and growth.“
When asked about the change, Nas X said he felt it was necessary to move away from his former moniker and embrace an identity that was more age-appropriate.
“It’s important to me to show that I’m not just a kid anymore,” he said. “I’m an adult, and I want to be taken seriously as such.“
The rapper also said that he hopes the name change will inspire other young people to grow and evolve as they get older.
“I want people to know that it’s ok to change and grow as you get older,” he said. “We can all become ‘Big Nas X’ if we put in the work.“
Fans of Lil Nas X have responded positively to the news, with many saying that Big Nas X is a fitting name for the rapper.
“It’s a great name for a grown up Lil Nas X,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “It’s the perfect way to show that he’s not the same kid he was before.“
Others have pointed out the irony of the situation, noting that Nas X is still only 23 years old.
“Big Nas X is only 23” one fan jokingly tweeted. “That’s like calling a baby a ‘Tiny Adult.’“
Though the name change may be unexpected, it’s clear that Lil Nas X is growing up and embracing his adulthood with his new moniker. We look forward to seeing what Big Nas X has for us next.
