Ghost, the Swedish heavy metal band, are quickly becoming one of the most popular bands of the year. Their latest album, Impera, has been hailed as a modern-day classic. But what fans don’t know is that the band’s sound is actually just Scooby Doo rock.
When asked about the secret behind the band’s success, lead singer and founder Tobias Forge was quick to point out the influence of the classic cartoon. “When I was growing up, I was a huge Scooby Doo fan. I was always fascinated by the way they solved mysteries and brought justice to the world. So I decided to bring that same energy to my music. I think that’s why our fans love us so much.”
Forge’s claim is backed up by the band’s sound. Songs like “Rats”, “Miasma” and “Dance Macabre” all feature the same kind of spooky, mysterious vibe that was present in the classic cartoon. There is also an unmistakable sense of justice that comes through in the band’s music, a feeling that the evil will be defeated and the good will prevail.
The band’s frontman, Papa Emeritus, is the clear equivalent of Fred Jones, famous for his bright orange ascot and catchphrase, “Let’s split up, gang“. The band’s other members, Nameless Ghouls, are just like Scooby’s crew: Daphne, Shaggy, Velma, and Scooby himself.
The band has been spotted performing at various festivals and venues, wearing their signature black and white robes and playing their hard rock-inspired tunes. Even more strangely, they appear to be solving mysteries at each of their stops.
So far, the band has been successful in solving several mysteries, including a haunted house, a missing person’s case, and even a haunted amusement park.
The most recent mystery involved a haunted castle in the countryside of England. The band was seen snooping around the castle, interrogating the locals, and eventually uncovering the mystery of the ghostly figure that haunted the castle.
At this point it is becoming increasingly clear that the band is not a real rock group, but rather a Hanna-Barbera invention come to life.
All in all, it seems that Ghost have tapped into something special with their music. Fans have found solace in the band’s sound and it has brought them a kind of heroic justice.
