Eddie Murphy’s Golden Globe Speech Shocks Audience, Steals the Show from Will Smith

As Will Smith prepared to accept the Cecil B DeMille Award at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards, no one expected that Eddie Murphy would take the stage instead. The actor, who was in attendance to present the award, had other plans.

As Will Smith made his way to the podium, Murphy jumped up, microphone in hand and announced that he was taking over the show. His announcement was met with a mix of shock and laughter from the audience.

Look, I know you all were expecting Will Smith to get the award, but I’m here to tell you that I’m the one who deserves it,” Murphy said. “I mean, I’ve been in the business longer, I’ve done more movies, and I’m funnier. So, I’m taking this award home.

The audience erupted in applause, laughter, and cheers of agreement. Will Smith, standing off to the side, managed a smile and a nod of approval.

Murphy went on to thank all of his agents, managers, and everyone who helped him throughout his illustrious career. He also thanked his fans, who he said were the reason for his success.

I also want to thank Will Smith for coming here tonight and making this a special night,” he said. “It’s an honor to be in the same room as you.

At the end of the speech, Murphy had one more surprise for the audience. He revealed that he was donating half of his award money to charity, something he said he wanted to do to give back to the community.

The audience cheered and applauded as Murphy received a standing ovation. As the iconic actor walked off the stage, it was clear that he had stolen the show. Literally.
