The world has been rocked by the news that the popular British band Artic Monkeys, who have been going strong for nearly 15 years, are not actually from the Antarctic and are not actually monkeys. In a shock turn of events, it appears that the band has been deceiving their fans and the public since their formation in 2002.
According to sources, the band has benefited from a long-running scam by taking money from animal conservation groups who believed they were helping to save endangered species. “We had no idea they weren’t actually from the Antarctic,” said one conservation group representative. “It’s hard to believe that a band with such catchy tunes could be so deceptive.”
“I’m so disappointed,” said long-time Arctic Monkeys fan, Sarah Pritchard. “I’ve been to all their concerts, bought all their albums, and even have an Arctic Monkeys tattoo. It was all for naught!“
“I don’t know what I’m going to do,” Pritchard said. “I’m so embarrassed. I can’t believe I’ve been supporting a band of people this whole time!“
The band has been silent on the matter, but according to reports, they were able to pull off their ruse by using cleverly-worded lyrics and titles to their songs, such as “I Bet You Look Good on the Ice” and “505 (It’s Chilly in Here)”.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the band, but one thing is for sure: if they can fool the world for this long, then they must be pretty good at what they do.
